Ingredients
- 1800 g potatoes
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 1/2 dl cream
- 5 dl milk
- 2 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 ml coarsely ground black pepper
- 2 dl grated cheese

- Peel and cut the potatoes into 3–4 mm thick slices.
- Peel and finely grate or press the garlic.
- Boil cream, milk, garlic, salt and pepper in a Dutch oven. Add the potatoes and bring to a boil while stirring. Cook on medium heat, uncovered, until the potatoes are soft, about 20 minutes. Stir occasionally. Taste. Add more salt and pepper if necessary.
- Set the oven to 400°F/200°C.
- Pour the potato mixture into an ovenproof dish, approx. 35.5 cm x 21 cm (13.9” x 8.26”) . Distribute the grated chease on top.
- Bake in the middle of the oven for about 25 minutes. Let the gratin rest for about 30 minutes before serving, so it has time to set.
