If Anna Pavlova Was Russian, Why Is Pavlova an Australian (or Kiwi) Dessert?

During her tours, chefs wanted to honor her with a dessert that was as light and elegant as her dancing – and that’s how the Pavlova dessert was born.

The question of who invented it first is still debated: both Australia and New Zealand claim the origin (a bit like how both Sweden and Finland claim the cinnamon bun 😉). However, the earliest known recipes point to New Zealand in the 1920s–30s.
So: the Pavlova is named after the Russian ballerina, but the dessert itself was created in Australia or New Zealand, not in Russia.
