Ingredients

  • 400 grams cabbage
  • 2 medium size yellow onions
  • 2 - 3 garlic cloves
  • 3 - 4 tbsp butter for cooking
  • 2 dl cream
  • 200 grams cream cheese
  • black pepper
  • 1 - 2 dl grated cheese
  • 1 tsp herb salt (or regular salt)
  • 0.5 tsp dried mint (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice thinly and cut the cabbage into smaller pieces.
  2. Slice the onion and mince the garlic.
  3. Set the oven to 200°C/400°F.
  4. Cook the cabbage and onions in butter over medium in a 12" Extra Deep Cast Iron Skillet until softened and a little bit colored. Add the garlic at the end for a few minutes.
  5. Add the cabbage mixture to an oven-safe form such as a 10.25" Cast Iron Skillet with Loop Handles.
  6. In a pot, mix cream and cream cheese and add pepper, herb salt, and mint (optional). Heat while stirring adjusting the consistency (thinning), making it more pourable. Pour over the cabbage and onions and top with grated cheese.
  7. Bake in the oven for 25 - 30 minutes until golden brown. Increase the heat for the last few minutes if you would like more color.
